Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Equipment – Zurich, Switzerland – CHF 850/day

We are looking for a Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer to support an engineering team working on the design and development of industrial equipment in Zurich, Switzerland.

l component design, 3D modelling and the improvement of existing assemblies to meet performance, quality and manufacturing requirements.

The role involves developing mechanical designs using SolidWorks or Siemens NX, preparing detailed engineering drawings and production documentation, selecting mechanical components and ensuring that designs comply with dimensional tolerances and technical specifications. You will also review existing assemblies, identify design improvements and work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve technical issues and ensure the feasibility of proposed solutions.

You will collaborate with other engineers throughout the design process, contribute to design reviews and support prototype development and testing where required. The position requires a practical understanding of mechanical engineering principles, machining processes, materials, fasteners, bearings and other standard mechanical components.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial equipment, machine building or manufacturing engineering. Proficiency in SolidWorks or Siemens NX and the ability to produce accurate technical drawings are essential. Experience with design for manufacturing, tolerance management and mechanical assembly is highly valued.

The assignment is based in Zurich, Switzerland. English is required for communication within the engineering team, while German is an advantage.

This is a freelance opportunity with an expected daily rate of CHF 850, depending on experience and technical expertise. The start date, contract duration and on-site requirements will be agreed with the selected candidate.
